CASPR PRO Frequently Asked Questions
What does CASPR stand for?
CASPR stands for Clean Air and Surface Pathogen Reduction.
What is CASPR Pro
CASPR Pro™ is the only continuous disinfection solution for the reduction of bioburden on all surfaces. Designed to supplement the normal cleaning and disinfecting protocols, CASPR Pro™ is an “enhanced no-touch” technology that uses photo catalysts to convert the water molecules in the humidity of an HVAC system into highly effective oxidizing molecules that blanket the surface of the targeted area and reduce bioburden 24/7.
Where should I use it?
Any indoor area you wish to disinfect
Who is this product meant for?
CASPR Pro™ is meant as a supplemental solution for the environmental services and infection preventionist responsible for developing and implementing cleaning and disinfection protocols designed to maintain cleanliness and prevent the spread of harmful pathogens. It is designed to enhance their goal of reducing HAIs by reducing bioburden levels in the air and on the surfaces of the facility.
Is the disinfection immediate?
The CASPR Pro™ solution begins to disinfect immediately. It is designed to work safely and effectively in occupied spaces, which are subject to ongoing insults to their environmental surfaces. CASPR Pro™ will decrease bioburden levels continuously and increasingly over time. In lab testing bioburdens of MRSA on surfaces have been reduced by more than 90% in 6 hours and over 99.9% in 24 hours.
What applications are appropriate for the CASPR Pro?
Although developed for use in hospitals to fight Airborne infection, CASPR has now been made available for all industries seeking an added layer of protection. It can be used to protect from pathogens in any setting; Residential, Commercial and Industrial.
Why is Environmental Disinfection?
Environmental Disinfection breaks a link in the chain of infection by eliminating microorganisms on surfaces that can be transmitted to a host. Research has proven that this is a critical strategy in reducing HAIs.
What Does it Kill?
CASPR Pro™ has been proven to kill MRSA as well as other ESKAPE Pathogens: Enterococus Facium (VRE), Klebsiella Pneumonia, Acinetobactor Baumonii, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, and Enterobacter species. It also kills C-Diff, Aspergillas Niger, and Candida Albicans.
How has it been tested?
The product has been used extensively throughout Europe, South America and Asia in food processing plants, healthcare settings and other applications where environmental disinfection is required. It has also been tested in a recent study in a Houston hospital, where it demonstrated effectiveness in reducing bioburdens in operating rooms, patient rooms, and employee work areas by over 99%.
How does it work?
The CASPR Group Continuous Disinfection Technology is a Photocatalytic Conversion Device that is designed to convert H2O and O2 in the air into safe but effective levels of Hydroxyl Radicals (OH-), Oxygen ions (O2-) and Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2). The device utilizes a multi-wavelength ultraviolet light to illuminate a target surface. The target surface is a honeycomb matrix treated with a proprietary photocatalytic coating. When inserted into the ducts of the HVAC system, the device reacts with H2O molecules found in the humidity to continuously create predominately H2O2 molecules, which exit the duct and disperse throughout the targeted area, coating all surfaces with highly effective oxidizing molecules that work to reduce the bioburdens of clinically relevant pathogens 24/7
How is CASPR Pro different from other Technologies?
Current methods of cleaning and disinfection with bleach and quaternary ammonia on a wipe are effective but are performed periodically. Once applied, the pathogens almost immediately begin to repopulate the space. Even new supplementary interventions like UV light towers are an episodic intervention that allows bacteria to invade the clinical areas as soon as the application is terminated. CASPR Pro™ is the only continuous intervention that delivers effective oxidizing molecules to all the surfaces including walls and floors reducing bioburdens 24/7. There is no need to interrupt workflow or vacate rooms. The continuous disinfection solution provides an “enhanced no-touch” option that works safely and effectively behind the scenes to provide a safer environment.
How is CASPR regulated?
CASPR is regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and, accordingly, our devices are produced in an EPA-registered facility.
